Anna Jane Caplinger was born to Paul and Sarah Caplinger in 1865. She married William R. Johnson on May 28, 1885 and raised three daughters and a son. Anna was a member of the West Washington Methodist Church and Myrtle Rebekah Lodge. She died at her home on Sunday, May 12, 1946 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the Usher Mortuary on the following Wednesday. Anna was buried in Floral Park cemetery in Indianapolis. [1]
William R. Johnson- husband of Anna Caplinger
William Robert Johnson was born on April 26, 1857. While all census records list his place of birth as Indiana, his death certificate lists his place of bith as Marshall, Illinois. William married Anna J. Caplinger on May 28, 1885. He appears in U. S. Census records from 1900 to 1940, living in Indianapolis with his wife and children. William's stated occupation was that of a laborer at a furinture store and, later, a chair factory. He was a member of the Harris Lodge No. 644 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. William R. Johnson died on Tuesday, July 13, 1948 from cerebral thrombosis (bolt clot on the brain). He was ninety-one years old. Funeral services were held at the George W. Usher Motuary on Friday, followed by burial next to his wife in Floral Park cemetery. [2]

Sarah Lydia Johnson was born to William and Anna (Caplinger) Johnson in April of 1887 near Bridgeport, Indiana. She is listed in the 1900 U. S. Census with her parents and family. She next appears in the 1920 census married to Lawrence Isaac Froyd and having two daughters. Sarah was a member of the West Washington Street M. E. Church, Corinthian Chapter No. 456, O. E. S., and Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 326. She was also vice-president of the Ladies' Aid Society and Women's Home Missionary Society for her church. Sarah died on Wednesday, October 23, 1929, after a long illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday at her church and she was buried in Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. [3]

Lawrence Isaac Froyd was born in 1877 in Covington, Indiana. He was an accountant by trade. Lawrence appears in the 1930 and 1940 census records living with his daughters and his widowed mother. He died on July 31, 1945 and was buried next to Sarah in Floral Park cemetery. [4]

Mildred Laurene Froyd was born to Lawrence and Sarah (Johnson) Froyd on August 14, 1910 in Indiana. She married James A. Inasy on Sunday, October 20, 1935 at the West Washington Street Methodist Church in Indianapolis, where she and her family were members, and where she would be the organist for 55 years. They had a daughter, but the couple filed for divorce in May of 1953. After her divorce, Mildred married Francis B. Nolte. Public notice of their marriage license was published in the Indianapolis Star on December 31, 1953. She was a supervisor of housekeeping for seventeen years at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital before retiring in 1975. Mildred was a 50-year member of the Sigma Phi Delta service sorority. She was also a noted pianist and organist, and a music teacher. She performed in weddings, funerals and church and holiday musical events for most of her life. In 1976 a newspaper article in the Indianapolis Times announced plans to honor her storied career in music. Mildred died on Friday, November 20, 1981 in St. Francis Hospital Center in Indianapolis. She was buried in Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. [5]
Alex James Inasy - husband of Mildred Froyd
Alex James (AJ) Inasy was the son of Alexander Inasy of Akron, Ohio and was born in Austria on October 25, 1911. He married Mildred L. Froyd in Indianapolis in 1935. There are several Indianapolis newspaper accounts of Jim Inasy being a respectable bowler in the 1940s and 1950s. After Alex and Mildred divorced, he moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked for the Beech Aircraft Corporation as a Liason Engineer. He rearried and he and his second wife, Sally, had two sons. After retiring from Beech Aircraft, Alex lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alex James Inasy died on Sunday, February 24, 1991. No funeral services were held. [6]
Francis B. Nolte - second husband of Mildred Froyd
Francis Bratton Nolte was born to Lawrence and Edna (Bratton) Nolte in 1910 in Indianapolis. He appears in Polk's Indianapolis City Directory with his first wife, Violet, in 1945, 1947 and 1949. At the end of 1953 he and Mildred (Froyd) Inasy agreed to get married. Public notice of their marriage license was published in the Indianapolis Star on December 31, 1953. They appeared together in the city directory for the first three years of their marriage with Francis listed as working for the New York Central Railroad. The Indianapolis Star announced the death of Francis B. Nolte at the Marion County Home at Julietta on May 13, 1964. No other confirmed information on Francis Bratton Nolte has been located at this time. He was buried in Estates of Serenity cemetery in Marion, Grant County, Indiana. [7]

Mary Jane Froyd was born to Lawrence and Sarah (Johnson) Froyd on Agust 23, 1919 in Indiana. She married Charles Bernard Schaler on May 4, 1942 in Biloxi, Harrison, Mississippi. They later raised two sons and a daughter. In addition to being a mom, Mary worked as a comptometer at Bridgeport Brass Co., retiring in 1968. She was a member of the Indiana Historical Society and she voluteeered time for the Meals on Wheels program. She was a charter member at St. Timothy Episcopal Church. Mary died on May 29, 2001 and services were held on June 1 in St. Timothy Episcopal Church. G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home handled the arrangements and she was buried next to Charles in Calvary Cemetery. [8]
Charles Bernard Schaler- husband of Sarah Lydia Johnson
Charles Bernard Schaler was born to Charles H. and Katherine (McCalister) Schaler on 31 May 1920 in Indiana. He joined the the Army Air Forces in February 1942 and was staioned in Mississippi. He married Mary Jane Froyd while there. Afer the war Charles was a quality engineer at General Motors, Corp. for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 669 and the Logansport post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a charter member at St. Timothy Episcopal Church. Charles died on January 10, 1997. Services were held on January 13 in St. Timothy Episcopal Church and G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Charles was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. [9]

Oscar Paul Johnson was born to William and Anna Johnson on September 16, 1889 in Indiana. He married Ruth Osborn on March 5, 1908 in Indianapolis. In March of 1919 he and his family moved to California where Oscar was employed as a switchman for the Santa Fe Railroad. They appear together in the 1920 U. S. Census living in San Bernardino, which is east of Los Angeles. Tragedy struck on Saturday, January 18, 1920 when Oscar was crushed between two rail cars while at work at 3:15 a. m. He was rushed to the emergency hospital in the rail yard and then transferred to the Ramona Hospital. Both legs were broken and major arteries were severed. Oscar was conscious and got to talk with his wife and son, as well as several friends before he died at 6:05. One of his last wishes was that he be taken back to Indianapolis to be buried. After a brief ceremony in San Bernardino Oscar was returned to Indianapolis and buried in Mt. Jackson Cemetery. [10]
Ruth Osborn - wife of Oscar Paul Johnson
Ruth Osborn was born in Vernon, Indiana in 1889. She married Oscar Paul Johnson and they had a son. After Oscar died, Ruth and Roger returned with the body to fulfill Oscar's wish to be buried at home. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eshelman, neighbors of the Johnson's in San Bernardino, on their somber journey. After Oscar's death, Ruth married Fred A. Reynolds. She appears in the 1930 census living in San Bernardino with her husband, Fred, and her son Roger. Fred died in San Diego, California on April 4, 1948. Ruth attended the Faith Bible Church. She died on Friday, December 1, 1972 in Riverside, California. Services were held on the following Tuesday at the Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino. [11]

Roger Lynn Johnson was born to Oscar and Ruth Johnson on November 25, 1908 in Indiana. He was eleven years old when he appeared in the 1920 U. S. Census with his parents in California (conducted on January 2). His father died, tragically, about two weeks later, while at work at the railroad. Roger attended San Bernardino High School, from where he graduated in 1926. He later attended Oregon State College, where he was affiliated with the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. In 1929 Roger is listed as a nephew in the obituary of his aunt Sarah Froyd who lived in Indianapolis. He appears in the 1930 census with his mother and step-father, Fred A. Reynolds, in San Bernardino. In 1931 Roger married Vera Danfelser in San Bernardino. In 1940, they were living in Riverside, California and Roger was working as a salesman for an oil company. After Vera died, Roger married Marjory Cathline Belle Frasher on October 5, 1950. Roger died on April 27, 1990 in Riverside, California. [12]
Vera Lucille Danfelser - wife of Roger Lynn Johnson
Vera Lucille Danfelser was born on August 28, 1910 in Los Angeles, California to Edward and Ethel (Bratton) Danfelser. She appears in numerous society page articles in the San Bernardino Sun during her childhood. Vera attended San Bernardino High School, graduating in the class of 1928 and serving as secretary of her graduating class. On October 6, 1929 in Yuma, Arizona, Vera married Victor Renshaw, a marathon runner on the U. S. Olympic team in the 1924 Paris games. The marriage was annulled less than a year later after a very public accusation, and conviction, of bigamy was charged against Mr. Renshaw. The story garnered headlines in the local newspaper. Vera returned home, to live with her parents, and then married Roger Lynn Johnson on September 7, 1931. They appear together in the 1940 census living in Riverside, California. Vera Lucille Johnson died at San Antonio Hospital in Upland, California on Friday, June 23, 1950. Funeral services were held on Monday at Stephens & Bobbitt chapel with entombment in Mountain View Mausoleum. [13]
Marjory Cathline Belle Frasher - second wife of Roger Lynn Johnson
Marjory Cathline Belle Frasher was born in California on January 19, 1922 to Lloyd and Gertrude (Woodman) Frasher. She worked for the Home Oil Company. Marjory married Roger Lynn Johnson on October 5, 1950 and they had a daughter and a son. Marjory C. B. Johnson died on November 2, 2010. [14]

Mary F. Johnson was born around 1890 in Indiana. She married Clarence D. Amos on June 21, 1911 in Indianapolis. From 1930 to 1940 Mary served as the Democratic precinct vice-committeeman in the 19th ward, 23rd precinct in Indianapolis. After Clarence died she married Charles Howard Payne. She was a member of the Corinthian Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Myrtle Rebekah Lodge. Mary died on Friday, December 27, 1974 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Her body was buried in Floral Park Cemetery. [15]
Clarence D. Amos - husband of Mary F. Johnson
Clarence D. Amos was born in Scott County, Indiana on July 11, 1889. He married Mary F. Johnson. Clarence was a member of the Indianapolis Fire Department for twenty-four years, rising to the rank of lieutenant. He was a member of the Indianapolis Firemen's Association, the Evergreen Masonic Lodge and the West Washington Methodist Church. Clarence retired from the department in May of 1945. About one month later, he died at the city hospital on Monday, June 4, 1945 from an aneurism. His body was cremated. [16]
Charles Howard Payne - second husband of Mary F. Johnson
Charles Howard Payne was born around 1886, in Franklin, Indiana to William Hastings Payne and Anna Statna (Jordan) Payne. He lived in Indianapolis, Center Township in 1900. Charles married the widow Hazel Ann (Sebastian) Aldredge on 13 December 1910, in Indianapolis. They were the parents of two daughters, Vivian and Norma, and a son, Glenn. The family appears in U. S. Census records from 1920 to 1940, in which Charles' occupations were listed as welder and furniture repair. After Hazel died in early 1947, Charles married the widow, Mary F. (Johnson) Amos in July of that year. Charles Howard Payne died on Monday, February 10, 1958, in Indianapolis at the age of 75. His body was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Indiana. Anna Viola Amos was born around 1914 in Indiana. She was the daughter of Clarence D. and Mary (Johnson) Amos. Anna married Elmer Bomgardner in the 1930s and they raised three daughters. After Elmer died she married Don L. Holmes. Anna was the office manager for the purchasing department at Indiana University Medical Center for twenty years, from where she retired in 1980. Anna died in Methodist Hospital on Sunday, January 24, 1982. After funeral services, she was buried with Elmer in Floral Park Cemetery. [18]
Elmer M. Bomgardner - husband of Anna Viola Amos
Elmer M. Bomgardner was born in Hendricks County, Indiana in 1910. He married Anna Viola Amos in the 1930s. Elmer was the garage superintendent for the Indianapolis Greyhound Bus Lines terminal. He was employed by Greyhound for thirty years. Elmer was a member of the West Park Christian Church and the Amalgamated Association of Street, Electric, Railway and Motor Coach Employees of America, Local 1211. Elmer died in Methodist Hospital on Wednesday, April 29, 1964. After funeral services, held at the Usher Funeral Home on the following Saturday, Elmer was buried in Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. [19]

Don L. Holmes, the second husband of Anna Viola (Amos) Bomgardner, married her in 1965. Their application for a marriage license appeared in the Indianapolis Star on October 28, 1965. They appear together in Indianapolis city directories until 1976. Don's occupation in those directories is listed as carpenter. When Anna died in 1982, Don was not listed as a survivor. No other confirmed information on Don L. Holmes has been located at this time. [20]

Ruth Emily Johnson was born on May 16, 1902 in Indiana. She married Walter Bradford on May 24, 1920 in Floyd County, Indiana. Ruth married Jesse Eugene Brothers in 1937 in Boone County, Indiana. Ruth appears in the 1940 census living with the family of her niece, Anna Viola (Amos) Bomgardner. Ruth Brothers appears in Indianapolis city directories until 1952. Occupations listed were waitress, stenographer and office worker. Ruth (Johnson) Brothers later married Carl B. Gilles. She was a secretary at FMC Corporation's Link Belt Division for twenty-five years before retiring in 1969. Ruth E. Gilles died in her home on Sunday, June 19, 1983. Funeral services were held the following Wednesday at the Usher Funeral Home and her remains were buried next to her Carl's, in Floral Park Cemetery. [21]

Walter A. Bradford II was born in Indiana on February 27, 1899. He married Ruth Emily Johnson and they had a daughter but they later divorced. Walter Bradford died in June of 1984. No other confirmed information on Walter Bradford has been located at this time. [22]
Jesse Eugene Brothers - second husband of Ruth Emily Johnson
Jesse Eugene Brothers was born in Indiana to William O. and Elsie (Bateman) Brothers in Roachdale, Indiana on September 26, 1911. He was listed as a stonecutter when he married Ruth Emily (Johnson) Bradford on June 5, 1937 in Frankfort, Boone County, Indiana. Jesse and Ruth appear together in the Indianapolis city directories from 1938 to 1940. Jesse E. Brothers married L. Mae Drake in Logansport, Indiana on June 22, 1941 and they had a daughter. Jesse was the owner of J. E. Brothers Memorials. He was a member of the Mount Zion Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. Jesse E. Brothers died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 1977, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana. Funeral services were held on Friday at Sullivan Funeral Home in Camden, Indiana with the Reverend Paul Davis officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Rockfield, indiana. [23]

Carl B. Gilles was born in Madison, Indiana in 1907. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Carl was an Indianapolis resident for around fifty years and was employed as a cabinet maker for Indianapolis Public Schools. He married Ruth (Johnson) Brothers around 1953. Carl died on Tuesday, June 7, 1977 in a local nursing home. Services were held on Friday at the Usher Funeral Home and he was buried in Floral Park Cemetery. [24]

Mary Louise Bradford was born to Walter and Ruth (Johnson) Bradford on December 20, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ruth appears in the 1930 census living with her mother and father in Indianapolis. In 1940, the census lists her living with her father at the home of her aunt. In 1942 she married William Robert Hinman and they later had two daughters and a son. Mary was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star West Washington Street Chapter of Indianapolis. For many years, she was the phone operator for Marion University in Indianapolis. She was later a member of the First Baptist Church in Grayville, Illinois. She loved people and was the President of the Resident Council at the Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and playing bingo. Mary L. Hinman, 89, died on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Meadowood Nursing Home. She was cremated and her ashes were entombed in a crypt next to her husband in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. [25]
William Robert Hinman - husband of Mary Louise Bradford
William Robert Hinman was born in Indiana in 1918. He married Mary Louise Bradford in 1942. William was an inspector for the FMC Corporation's Link Belt Division, where he was employed for twenty years. He was a lifelong Indianapolis resident and was a member of the Lyndhurst Masonic Lodge 723 and Scottish Rite. He was also a counselor for the Boy Scouts Band. William Robert Hinman died on Sunday, September 11, 1977 in Wishard Memorial hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral services were held at the Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel on the following Wednesday and his remains were entombed in a crypt at Washington Park East Cemetery. [26]
