Most information on the earliest generations of the Accoe (Acoe) family is taken from a narrative from Mary-Louise Accoe as told to Paul Beirnaert in 1968.  The earliest known members of the Accoe family are Pieter Acoe and Anna Catharina Welvaert.  They became the common ancestors of the families contained within these pages.

Pieter Acoe was born around 1735.  Pieter and Anna Catharina Welvaert were married and had two sons, Joannes (Jan) and Karel, who became the ancestors of the families contained within these pages. 

Anna Catharina Welvaert was born around 1739.  She married Pieter Acoe and had two sons.  Anna died in 1806.

A death certificate has been located for Francisca Acoe.  Francisca was born in 1733 in Oedelem, Belgium and died on April 8, 1801.  Her parents are listed as Andres (Acoe?) and Petronella DeMeyer.  There have been no records located of an Andres Acoe within the family of Pieter Acoe at this time so it is unclear if Francisca was a sister, sister-in-law, or cousin to Pieter Acoe.

The eldest son of Pieter and Anna Acoe was Jan (Joannes) Acoe, who was born in 1768.  Jan was married to Francisca Dhondt and they had four children.  Jan lived in Oedelem and was listed as a weaver and the village policeman.  After assisting with the wedding of his nephew, Pieter Jan Acoe, Jan, Francisca and the children seem to have disappeared from all public records. 

Not much is known about Francisca Dhondt.  She married Jan Acoe and had a son and three daughters.

Karel Acoe was born in 1771.  Karel married Isabella Verhaeghe and had eight children, including Pieter Jan Acoe. 

Not much is known about Isabella Verhaeghe.  She was born around 1773 and married Karel Acoe.  She died in 1826.

Eduard Francies Accoe was born on April 8, 1835.  He is the patriarch of the Accoe families described in these pages.  Eduard was the first member of the family to spell his surname with two c's.  He married Philomena Willems and they had nine children. 

Philomena Willems was born around 1805 and married Eduard Francies Accoe.  She was the mother of August, Seraphien, Alponsius, Philmon, Leonie, Ida, Emiel, and Emma Accoe.  Philomena died in 1900.

Godelieve Acoe was born around 1813.  She married Petrus Seghers.  Godelieve died around 1853.  No other information about her life has been located.

According to the Civil Registration records pertaining to his death, Petrus Seghers was born around 1810 in Sysssele to Emmanuel and Joanna (Acket)Seghers.  According to Wikipedia, Syssel is a historical type of country subdivision in Scandinavia or Denmark.  Petrus was married to Godelieve Acoe.  He died on June 2, 1853 in Brugge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium .
